Transforming Chinese Language Education: HKU Hosts Sharing Session on AI and Virtual Learning

March 14, 2025 — The E-Learning Development Laboratory of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) successfully hosted a professional sharing session titled “Educational Transformation: Innovative Practices of AI and Virtual Learning in Chinese Language Education”, aimed at equipping primary school Chinese language teachers with new insights into digital teaching.

Held at the HKU Main Library Extension Building, the event welcomed 50 educators from across Hong Kong for an afternoon of knowledge exchange focused on the integration of artificial intelligence and virtual learning into Chinese language education.

The session featured several insightful presentations from academic and school-based educators, who shared practical experiences and case studies demonstrating how emerging technologies can be applied to enhance student learning. Topics covered included immersive classroom experiences through virtual exploration, the use of AI-generated visuals in writing instruction, the fusion of Chinese writing with virtual reality game creation, and the application of AI tools in student-led picture book storytelling.

The event provided a platform for educators to reflect on how AI and digital tools can support more personalized, interactive, and creative learning experiences in the Chinese language classroom. It also sparked valuable discussions on the future of teaching and learning in the age of education technology.
