March, 2025 — In a joint effort to advance digital pedagogy, the Education Bureau and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) recently launched an online teacher training course titled “IT in Education Pedagogical Series: Use of IT to Promote STEAM Learning Activities.” Designed for primary and secondary school educators, the course aims to empower teachers with practical knowledge and digital tools to enrich STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.

The course is structured into three comprehensive parts, each supported by instructional videos that guide participants through key concepts and applications. The first part introduces the foundations of STEAM education and provides an overview of IT tools that can enhance both teaching effectiveness and student engagement. The second part focuses on thematic STEAM activities, demonstrating how technology can be seamlessly integrated into lesson plans to support inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary exploration. The final part showcases innovative STEAM projects designed to spark curiosity and creativity among students through engaging and forward-thinking topics.

By completing the course, teachers gain practical strategies for incorporating digital tools into their classrooms, fostering a more interactive and future-ready learning environment. This initiative reflects the Education Bureau’s commitment to promoting technological fluency in education and supporting teachers in their professional development as they prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
