October, 2025 — The Education Bureau and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) jointly hosted an advanced teacher training course titled “Digital Education Technological Series: Innovative Teaching with Virtual Reality.” The course was designed for primary and secondary school educators, aimed to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to integrate Virtual Reality (VR) into modern teaching practices.

This forward-looking course focused on three core objectives: enabling teachers to operate commonly used VR equipment and software tools, identifying effective elements within popular Metaverse platforms for educational use, and guiding participants to design and create simple yet impactful teaching packages enriched with VR components.

Over the course of the training, participants engaged in a structured curriculum that combined technical instruction with pedagogical reflection. Teachers were introduced to VR headsets and 360-degree cameras, followed by hands-on sessions in operating the equipment, creating immersive VR scenes, and editing video content. Using platforms such as Delightex (formerly Cospaces Edu), Spatial, and Rec Room, educators explored how to build interactive environments and apply them to subjects ranging from science to humanities.

The program concluded with collaborative discussions on current teaching practices and the potential of VR in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. By the end of the course, teachers left with practical tools, creative inspiration, and a renewed vision for digital education in the classroom.
