On the 15th of February 2024, our team held a series of focus group meetings at the University of Hong Kong. The purpose of these meetings was to invite our sub-committee team to engage in a collaborative exchange of ideas on the development of our e-learning platform. Throughout the four meetings, our team presented concept briefings and survey results that pertained to the platform's development. Additionally, we outlined the plans for the first phase of the project, providing the sub-committee team with a preliminary understanding of the project's scope and objectives. In our meeting, we discussed several ways to enhance the e-learning platform's features. One of our main concerns was to make it more accessible, especially in mainland China. We also talked about integrating the platform with other e-learning systems to increase its usefulness. Additionally, we discussed the use of OCR technology to process paper-based assessments, and teachers inputting handwritten scores to make grading more efficient. Some advisors expressed interest in conducting pilot trials of the platform in their schools to provide more detailed feedback. During these trials, the platform's ability to maintain data security and privacy would be crucial. It was also important to ensure parents could easily access information on their children's progress. To improve the platform's functionality, we talked about integrating data from other e-learning platforms, which could include features such as alerting teachers about sudden changes in student grades, creating a database of frequently answered incorrect questions, and conducting student mental health surveys. We also discussed the possibility of adding gamification elements to make the platform more engaging for students.
