June 24, 2025 — Leading Chinese artificial intelligence company iFlyTek and its subsidiary iFlyTek Healthcare recently celebrated the opening of their international headquarters and research institute in Hong Kong. During the event, they unveiled Cantonese-based AI applications tailored for healthcare, education, and office solutions, developed on the foundation of the innovative “iFlyTek Spark Model.” The company also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Hong Kong to strengthen collaboration in technology development and application.
According to iFlyTek Chairman Liu Qingfeng, Hong Kong’s world-class research infrastructure, exceptional talent cultivation capabilities, and vibrant innovation ecosystem make it an ideal location for building a strategic regional hub. As a global bridge between mainland China and the international market, Hong Kong offers unique advantages in attracting talent worldwide. Its top-tier universities and strong foundation in research further enable iFlyTek to lead in multilingual AI technology and drive industrial advancements. Liu emphasized that the company will continue to deepen its partnerships with local universities and institutions, focusing on technology exchange, application development, and global market expansion, especially in Southeast Asia, the Belt and Road Initiative, and beyond.
iFlyTek Vice President Wang Wei highlighted the company’s strong ties to Hong Kong, noting that many of its core researchers are alumni of Hong Kong universities. She expressed confidence in Hong Kong’s role in connecting the company to international markets and accelerating the development of globally focused AI applications.
In recent years, iFlyTek has worked closely with several major Hong Kong organizations, including the Legislative Council, TVB, and Hong Kong Telecom. Notably, the company’s AI systems for speech recognition and real-time subtitles have greatly improved the accuracy of Cantonese and multilingual transcription, enhancing public accessibility and transparency in government proceedings.
iFlyTek’s decision to establish its international headquarters in Hong Kong reflects a broader trend among mainland Chinese tech companies. With its financial freedom, robust research capabilities, and increasing investments in innovation, Hong Kong is becoming a global hub for technology and a crucial gateway for enterprises aiming to expand internationally.
