October 10 - 14, 2025 — A 4-day service and cultural exchange trip co-organized by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) recently concluded in Sichuan, offering students a meaningful blend of academic collaboration, community service, and cultural exploration.
The program began with an opening ceremony and academic exchange activities at UESTC, where students from both institutions engaged in seminars, campus tours, and inter-university dialogue. The itinerary then shifted to Wenchuan, where participants visited Yingxiu Middle School for a day of service and later toured the earthquake memorial site to reflect on the region’s resilience.
Cultural immersion continued with visits to iconic landmarks such as the Dujiangyan Irrigation System and the Panda Centre, as well as a local tech company to explore innovation in the region. Students also enjoyed free time in Chengdu’s historic districts, including Wuhou Temple and Jinli Street, fostering informal cultural exchange and bonding.
The trip concluded with a visit to the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum before students returned to Hong Kong. This program not only deepened cross-border academic ties but also empowered students to engage with local communities and appreciate Sichuan’s rich heritage.
