Dr. Wilton Fok received the Outstanding Teaching Award (Individual) 2016

Dr. Wilton Fok received University Outstanding Teaching Award on 27 March 2017 for his excellent teaching and contributions to the development of e-learning, experience learning and entrepreneurship coaching.

Dr. Fok was an early adopter of e-learning. He led a team of students to apply their IT knowledge and developed an interactive e-learning system called iClass. Students can answer questions, draw their ideas and give real-time feedback using their mobile devices and share in a lecture in real-time. Many students like that innovative pedagogy and are motivated to be an active learner in the class.

Dr. Fok also extended his teaching to outside classroom so as to enrich his students’ learning experience. He started organizing experiential learning for our students since 2009, right after the Sichuan earthquake. He led students to Sichuan and supervised them to contribute their engineering knowledge and help reconstructed schools to build e-learning laboratory, multimedia classroom and solar power system. Some students from other faculties had also joined the project so that students can develop their interdisciplinary skills through these service missions. They are guided not only to do things right but also do the right things.

In recent years, Dr. Fok also coached his project students to turn their Senior Design Project on interactive class into an entrepreneurial idea. The project received a few external awards such as Hong Kong ICT Awards and entrepreneurial seed funding and turned their projects into start-up businesses, which further benefits to more teachers and students in the education sector.
