QEF 25th Anniversary Promotion Activities – sharing of QTN-T STEAM Education experience

Hong Kong – The Quality Education Fund (QEF) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a series of promotion activities focused on the integration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. These activities aim to highlight the innovative teaching methods that foster self-directed learning and cultivate students' talents in the field of technology.

During the anniversary events, speakers from HKU eLearning Development Laboratory = shared their insights on how STEAM education can be leveraged to inspire students' motivation for learning, boost their sense of accomplishment, and enhance their self-esteem. The discussions explored  various teaching approaches, including flipped classrooms, project-based learning, and engineering design.

Flipped classrooms have gained popularity as an effective method to engage students in active learning. By providing instructional content outside of the traditional classroom setting, students can utilize class time for hands-on activities and collaborative projects, thereby deepening their understanding of the subject matter.

Project-based learning, another key focus of the anniversary activities, encourages students to explore real-world problems and develop solutions through research and experimentation. This approach not only enhances students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also promotes teamwork and communication.

Engineering design, a core component of STEAM education, allows students to apply scientific and mathematical principles to create and test prototypes. This hands-on experience not only reinforces theoretical knowledge but also fosters creativity and innovation.

The QEF's 25th anniversary promotion activities underscored the importance of adopting diverse and dynamic teaching methods to prepare students for the challenges of the future. By integrating STEAM education into the curriculum, educators can nurture students' curiosity and passion for learning, ultimately empowering them to become confident and capable individuals.

HKU eLearning Development Laboratory remains committed to supporting educational initiatives that enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Hong Kong. As it celebrates this milestone anniversary, the QEF continues to champion innovative practices that inspire and uplift the next generation of learners.
