Po Toi Island Trip

On November 27, 2021, HKU e-Learning Development Laboratory participated in a Po Toi Island guided tour led by Dr. Sam Chu, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education. This event, organized jointly by the A22 Foundation and the villagers of Po Toi Island, aimed to promote awareness about the island’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Upon arrival at Po Toi Island, the tour commenced with Dr. Chu leading the group around the island’s picturesque mountains. Participants had the opportunity to take photographs of the stunning scenery and observe special species of butterflies and birds.

A highlight of the tour was a visit to the 180+ years old temple, where participants learned about the island’s history and cultural significance. The group also stopped by the Community Centre of Po Toi before enjoying a seafood lunch at a local restaurant.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to rejuvenate Po Toi Island’s educational and conservation programs. The tour provided a valuable opportunity for participants to connect with the island’s unique environment and heritage, fostering a deeper appreciation for conservation efforts.

This tour not only offered an enriching educational experience but also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the A22 Foundation and the local community in promoting sustainable tourism and conservation on Po Toi Island.
